Fiddleback Blackwood Oblong Hair Clip

A large oblong-shaped hair clip featuring the lustrous Tasmanian Blackwood timber, which has become synonymous with fine furniture making in Australia. A durable straight-grained timber, Blackwood rarely features knots or burls but the beautiful wavy figuring that often develops in mature trees is a highly sought-after feature. These holographic-like ripples are named 'fiddleback' because such timber is traditionally used on the back and sides of stringed instruments.

Hand-crafted using traditional wood bending techniques and delicately shaped to enhance the grain of the featured timber. The wood is very strong, yet light to wear and is meticulously finished until it is irresistibly smooth, with a deep natural lustre.
