Each slither of veneer is specifically chosen, cut (using scroll saw and scalpel) and pieced together by hand to build you a unique piece showcasing the most beautiful timbers Australia has to offer.

Elizabeth Nagel is a Tasmanian-born artist and teacher specialising in traditional timber inlay.  Inspired by simple yet beautiful forms in the natural environment and the colours and textures in the timber itself, her work is typified by its organic lines and sensitivity to the timber's natural features.  No paint or dyes are used.

These Forest Jewels are Elizabeth's signature collection of wearable 'jewels' from our treasured forests.  Unlike most wooden jewellery, which is chunky and uncomfortable to wear, these pieces are light, feminine and entirely comfortable.  This is due to their construction, which involves laminating (gluing) together thin sheets of timber, rather than wood-turning or carving.  There is virtually no wasted product and renewable plantation timbers can be employed on the reverse.  The handmade gift box which comes with every order from the Forest Jewels range is constructed of recycled card.

Elizabeth uses only tried and tested metal clasps and genuine leather lacing on all products.  All barrette clips are large (8cm), best for most hair-types, unless otherwise stated.
